I Guess I Am Confused!!!

Politicians twisting words and using them in a way that does not reflect their definition.

I sit inside my house in East Texas today contemplating on whether I should venture outside today or stay in. You know the weather in Texas is erratic, with the lows in the high 30s and highs in low 70s. What is a guy to do? This leaves me a little confused, but it is not the only thing that leaves me confused.

So, there are three words that I thought I knew the definition of and as of lately I can now presume I am wrong on those definitions. What is crazy, when I look up those definitions, my interpretation was on point, but I realize in all my education and years of dictionary’s defining words that people in charge may not have the same definition of what they are saying. Hmmmmmmm. That seems to be a trend now.

Let us start with the simple word “unity.” You know the word. The very word that the POTUS ran most of his campaign on, Unity and Trump is bad. Biden claimed that, he is the one person that can unify our country. That was expressed in all his speeches, which were less than a handful (stand back fact checkers, the second part of the sentence is a joke). So of course, I am excited about this thing called unity but let me make sure I know what he is talking about. Unity according to that fancy schmancy google dictionary means, “the state of being united or joined as a whole.”

Wow, now that is exactly what I thought unity was. Today that is not what I see though when I hear the word in political sense. I mean it was the theme of his inauguration which is “America United.” Just in his speech here are some of his words. “We can join forces, stop the shouting and lower the temperature. For without unity there is no peace, only bitterness and fury. No progress, only exhausting outrage. No nation, only a state of chaos.” So, my question is when is he going to start this thing called unity???

He missed many opportunities. For one instance, instead of signing all those Executive Orders maybe allow the Legislative Branch to “unify” behind a bipartisan bill and pass something with real substance. So far that has not happened. Instead, it has been go it alone attitude and policy. Sticky to a one-party politics instead of compromise from all aspects of America. You know the deal we will “unify” the country but first they must be submissive.

Another missed opportunity to “unify” our country would have been to simply say, “thank goodness for #45 and Operation Warp Speed by getting those two vaccines in place before leaving office and having the third one handed to me by the time, I took office. We are all on a path of improvement because of this. Now I as the President will finish the mission and ensure that America is COVID vaccinated.” That one sentence would have unified America more than he could have imagined. I mean let us face it, he was handed the solutions to the problem with all the bugs already worked out.

So, with the word “unity” I am now convinced that the POTUS definition and mine are vastly different. I agree with the google definition whereas I am sensing that the POTUS’s definition is more like unity through submission.

My next word that I am confused on as of lately is the word transparency. I mean the White House Press Secretary even pledged that she would bring “transparency and truth back to the briefing room.” I am like, yes. This is awesome, and it is music to my ears.

I figure it would be important just in case to look up the definition of transparency. Of course, that google search presents us, “the quality or state of being transparent.” To me that means, all actions are out there for all to see.

On Wednesday, Kristin Fisher asked Press Secretary Jen Psaki about the lack of transparency and denial of press availability down by the border (you know the place, the place that is not a crisis). Kristen Fisher even suggested this to the Press Secretary, “you all came in and promised to be the most truthful and transparent administration you all oversee DHS, if you all wanted to grant access to the press, couldn’t you just tell DHS to do it?” Jen Psaki replied, “we fully support transparency, I encourage you to talk to DHS for press access or what you’re looking to accomplish at the border.”

Uhhhhhh, I am not sure Jen Psaki is fully aware of the definition of transparency. Putting up obstacles to get access seems not be very “transparent,” to me. I do not know about you. As has been reported that is a punt. I call it a deflection. You know the deal we always have deflection when it comes to being “transparent.” Even yesterday, Jen Psaki stated, “the White House is committed to transparency.” Hmmmmmm it does not sound that they are to me.

The last word that I am confused on recently is the word, “crisis.” So, I will go straight to the definition on this. A crisis is “a time of intense difficulty, trouble, or danger.” Right now, in all the White House and Press Secretary’s deflection attempts, even Jen Psaki has acknowledged this is a difficult time down at the border. But guess what it is not a “crisis” according to the most transparent administration. Say what???? Yep, you heard it.

Au contraire, even the Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas has stated, “we are on pace to encounter more individuals on the southwest border than we have in the last 20 years. The situation we are currently facing at the southwest border is a difficult one.” That word difficult is part of the definition of crisis not to mention that little 20-year mark that emphasizes the level of difficulty. I do remember it was called the ‘border crisis” in the Trump administration. That it is about to be the worst thing in 20 years, and we have called in FEMA for that it’s just a non-crisis. Say what? Are you serious? Is this another deflection?

Understanding these simple words; unity, transparency and crisis has led me to believe that the Biden administration is simply not educated in definitions of the English language. I mean what else could I presume from this? Or is it that all dictionaries in the English language, all English classes and of course me are simply wrong in our understanding of these definitions. I tend to belief that the Biden administration needs to have a refresher class on definitions and try it again, maybe summer school would do some justice for them.

This is my Friday’s Thought to Ponder for the Weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
