Thrifty Word Challenge #24: Mistakes

Indelible marks sent to remind us that mistakes are just information; gifts meant to heal. It’s what we learn from them that count. Yet getting over a big mistake and learning what not to do again will take time, no matter what type, affecting our lifetimes. Our experiences shape us.

Every decision we make has put us where we are today. You could cry a river but instead, taking the time to decide and taking a breath or two will help to make it the best decision we can. To go back and say I wish I had done it this way or why didn’t I do that, visualizing what could have been instead of what is, makes turmoil that spreads far into our lives, but we can reduce its fire, we can halt the spread, and begin, if you haven’t already, waving goodbye to it watching it tossed into a dumpster and crumbled, or waving goodbye from the dock while the ship it’s on moves away. What’s done is done. We are captains of our ship and are at the controls.

I’ve made many mistakes and sometimes they stick like glue, but whether we feel we failed, were unsuccessful, weren’t smart about something or informed enough or maybe we decided when we were down or angry, not in the best shape or frame of mind, and the results were less than good, there’s a place for mistakes because the success of mistakes are the discoveries that were made.
