Longing and Want

the reason we feel like shit.

we all feel like shit. there’s always a girl/boy you long for that doesn’t give you the time of day. there’s always someone more successful or smarter than you. theres always that person that looks like they have everything, and we feel stuck in the mud, wondering why its so unfair on us, wondering what we’ve done to deserve this, feeling insecure, shitty and self-consious about ourselves. we cant help it. its part of being human. everyone in world is self-conscious, we all have our own problems and even if we have something there is always something better. you could get that girl that you liked but then there will always be a finer one. you could get the car you wanted but there will always be a nicer one. you can get the amazing grades you wanted, but someone will always have better ones. this drive we have to be the best, or have the best things are our biggest vice. you could say it gives you ambition, but this ambition and thirst to be the best will just leave us driving ourselves to extremes we can’t imagine, all just to reach something unachievable. we’re deluded by the idea that success and materialistic accolades will bring us happiness, and the rest of us don’t believe we’ll ever truly reach happiness so we settle with what we already have, stuck in the ‘good enough’ mentality and the belief that if we leave what we already have, we’ll never find anything better, trapping us in a dead end lifestyle. we need to take risks, do what we’d never do before, think outside the creative bubble we trap ourselves in and do things for ourselves, not for anyone else. since birth all we do is want. from a young age we rush to be older, when we’re in school we just want to be popular or liked, and even the liked kids just want to be themselves, with their own issues and insecurities and integrity issues that follow with the thirst for popularity. we just need to strive for our own happiness, and not the fake happiness we trick ourselves with, but real happiness. the people closest to us, the people that would die for us, commit crimes for us, move heaven and hell to put a smile on our face. our friends, family. now im not saying that we shouldnt try to achieve anything. its a common misconception that money cant buy you happiness, because it very much can. we all get a rush when we buy something new and shiny, and we’re much happier as people knowing we’re stable in our income, but it can be very poisonous if used incorrectly. if we dont have love, people who care for us and realisation of that, we just use money to fill this void, because in our mind we don’t have any other shit. we just want to impress other people and have them like us. tyler, the creator says it best ‘money can buy u happiness but it can’t buy u wings’. we need to stop fucking lying to ourselves, and work to acheive true happiness, to be ourselves and do shit because WE want to, not because of anything. don’t be selfish dont don’t settle for less. but don’t be a fucking downer all the time, don’t expect happiness to find you gotta work for that shit. and learn to love urself and love urs. we all hate ourseves at one point or another. and we need to focus on the important shit in life, and work towards that and nothing else. nothing else matters if we’re not happy. esp if we’re just lying to ourselves and saying we’re happy when we really know we aren’t. and most importantly, shut the fuck up sometimes, or find a better way to get ur shit out, be creative or some shit bro im writing, drake sings about this shit. just do you. and be happy.
