My memories

I want to start with the (re) introduction of communicative competence. I want to deepen because, interestingly, we still have this perspective on what communicative competence is throughout the semesters we have been studying. And I emphasize this because it means, and I could reconfirm it in this class, that everything goes together and complements each other. And that it remains that way makes me trust my teachers, and this is something I wanted to bring up since I am a teacher myself and keeping aspects like this in mind is valuable. I have learned that sometimes the system is not as it appears written on paper but, the fundamental point is to find day by day those methods that allow us to develop not only the class but to connect with our students, who may be from an A1 to a C2, perhaps. Because we should note that there is no linear progress and that language has different uses.

I would also like to bring up these terms that we saw in class: bilingualism and translingualism because they are notions I consider fundamental. I enjoyed seeing them a lot in class because I consider I need to have them present and more if we talk about the teaching approach. After all, it is crucial for teaching to keep in mind issues like this for planning and developing a good class session. In this order of ideas, I would like to mention lesson planning more in-depth based on a quote written by Dr. Berry (2021) in the class session that says: “improvisation is the most advanced form of planning.” I have been in the educational field for several years, teaching different students and in different environments. Therefore, I would like to support that great phrase that the professor shared with us. One can achieve this with experience over the years and managing it with regular class planning and material design. It will help our students and us because of the teaching experience we have and classroom management. The last notion I would like to comment on is the one that, for me, brings together all these relevant aspects if we are talking about teaching methods and approaches, with emphasis on English.
