A Mantra With Staying Power

A mantra is an easy way to shape your goals and plans for the year ahead. I’ve had one for each year for as long as I can remember. They help provide a very accurate sense of direction, but too often end up being precise to the point that you might have missed the bigger picture of attainable goals for the year.

I am not mantra-less headed into 2019 but I am changing the vantage point a bit. Recent experience tells me that we all should. I am zooming out.

Lets just carve this one in stone from this day forth: help improve the world around you and make your family proud.

Perhaps it really is true that what you can plan is too small for you to live. Demonstrating so with the mantras we take into the new year could help us demonstrate so.

Now, as I reflect and offer comments on planning into the New Year, I wanted to say a quick thank you to the these thought leaders and book writers who helped shape my view of the world and my role in it during 2018.

Here are some of the major titles I picked up this year that are still sitting near my bedside.
