Maximize Your Career Plan by Doing This!

What’s your biggest goals? And how do you get it?

When someone asks you that question, of course, you are not only have one big goal in your life, but a lot, one of them is your goals in your career.

Do you know how to achieve your goals? When do you want to achieve the goals?, and What do you need to achieve the goals?

In this article, we will learn about how to make an effective plan to achieve your goals, especially in career.

The first thing you have to know is : You have to define clearly what you wanna be in your career, why do you have to achieve that, and when you will you reach it. If you feel confuse what do you wanna be, you can start finding the type of job and match them with your skills or passion. For example, you are from statistics background and you like counting, looking at patterns, you can be a Data Analyst, or Data Scientist. There is a lot of type job is similar with DA, or DS, such as Business Intelligence. By finding what you wanna be, you may do a some research. And you found why you choose that as your goals career. The “why” is important for you to have, because you will remember “why you wanna reach your goals”, and keep you on the path. When you will reach it? Okay, if you have defined your goals, you must have the target when will you reach it. Write the date or year according to what you expected. For Example “I wanna be Data Scientist when I’m 24” or “Data Lead is my job in 2025”.

Second, define your Personal Learning Goal and when you want to reach it. Personal Learning Goals is something that can help you to complete the requirement of your goals. You can adopt the job requirement and write it down to your personal learning goals.

For example, “what is the requirement if I wanna be a Data Analyst?”. You can do some research in LinkedIn or other job platforms, and you will see that “Oh, data analyst needs a someone that:

1. Can define problem statement

2. Competent to analyze and treat some statistic method to data

3. Ability to visualize the result

4. Have a presentation skills to present what they found

You can write the list in your personal learning goals. “What if I have more requirements for myself? For example, be better in English and Improving my soft skills?” Yes, of course you can write it too, as long as your learning can boost you to reach your goals. But don’t forget, write when u want to achieve that. Be measurable. Break your time, make a timeline to complete the list all of your list. And don’t pass the time of your main goals in career.

The third is, know your priority! Because you have limited time, and you have the list that you have to complete, you have to know which one to go first, which one to go next, etc. Categorize your Personal Learning Goals into High, Medium, and Low. Based on what you already know, High priority is something that is most important and most take your time to learn and complete.

The last, you have to define again what you wanna do to complete and achieve your each of personal learning goals, or we can call it as development plan. Same as personal learning goals, development plan contain what is your action plan to get the target. Specify your plan. Even if you want to write your detail time (time/week or time/day) to learn, it’s okay. But make it specific as you can. Example for this case is:

Your Personal Learning Goals : Ability to visualize the result

Your Development Program :

- Find the data on Kaggle

- Explore Google Data Studio

- Trial Tableau

Those are four things that you have to set for your personal career goals.

Make a plan will make you focus on your track.
