Languages of Love

I knew love only by its last name — Preached it amidst a community numbed by decades-long hostility, an indifferent and self-centered leadership and a hesitant working team. Struggled to give it a face, to express its toughness in truth, and find ways to listen with the heart.

Now I know love by its first name, translated in tears and hugs, in the peaceful smiles of the very old and the very young, in the hard work of men and women, in empathy and genuine understanding of a now extraordinary team.

I found grace in an unlikely place. Felt the indescribable joy of witnessing lives transformed. I thought I was sent to teach; instead Jesus and the people taught me the various languages of love.
