How might we make it possible to leave belongings with unattended bikes without worrying that they will be stolen?
New Warm Up Game
That warm up game I came up with was called “Yes and Did You See…” To play, the first person says “Did you see”, then an animal, “wearing” then a piece of clothing. While the person says their statement, they make a gesture representing the animal they call out. The next person says “Yes, and did you see”, then another animal starting with the first letter of the article of clothing from the previous person’s statement, “wearing”, and then another article of clothing, while doing an action for their animal. For example, someone might say “Did you see the cat wearing a sweater?” and the next person might say “Yes, and did you see the snake wearing glasses?” This game seemed to be a success and helped my group loosen up before brainstorming.
Session Organization
My group consisted of a great group of friends who agreed to take time out of their week to work on my project with me. Among them were Alexa, a neuroscience major, Erin, a global studies major with a minor in Arabic, Spanish, and political science, Angela, an actuarial science major, and Mandi, a mechanical engineering major. We all met in my apartment and sat around my coffee table to talk about the topic at hand. To warm up, we used the game I created specifically for this meeting called “Yes, and Did You See…” We also played the game “Yes, but / Yes, and” to get everyone feeling extra creative. We dedicated 30 minutes to brainstorming and generated 110 ideas related to my statement. This gave us an average of 3.66 Ideas Per Minute.
Sorting and Voting
After brainstorming, we sorted out the ideas into various categories, and voted on the top 10 ideas. The categories created consisted of locking products, alarms, security, avoid the problem in the first place, disguises, and deterrents. For the voting process, I asked each person to put one sticker next to each of their 10 favorite and most marketable ideas. I also asked that they used only one vote per idea so that I could see a wider spread of opinion on the ideas we generated as a group.
